Approval Qualifications

Parents or caregivers may receive a one-off payment of £500 to help towards the cost of having a child. A parent or caregiver must claim the grant within 11 weeks of the date that the baby is due, or within 3 months after the baby has been born. In order to be approved, the applicant (or spouse) must already be receiving one of the following: Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, or Universal Credit. Applicants may also be approved to receive the grant if they are adopting a child or becoming a surrogate parent. Payment Amounts
